"A film is - or should be - more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what's behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later." Stanley Kubrick

Possible Ideas

For my A2 course, I have decided to do a music video. I've chosen this specific idea because I have always loved music and music videos, as they are basically short films and have the ability to change ideas, to show controversial issues and also just to please the eye. Music videos are hugely popular, and what makes them even better is that anyone can make them. You don't have to be a professional to be able to create something impressive.
I am between two ideas at the moment, Paramore's 'Last Hope' and AWOLNATION'S 'Sail'.

AWOLNATION - SAIL
I wanted to film my friend doing a dance that she had choreographed. I also wanted to shoot it in the dark and use the lighting from behind to produce a silhouette against a dark figure. I also had the idea that there would be an element of drama and terror to it, but that in the end the singer wakes up and it was all a dream... or was it? Something that was a main focus in the music video would be the last thing that we see, left on a long shot. However, this idea is not yet as developed and organised as my other idea.

PARAMORE - LAST HOPE
This song is about starting over. We have a girl, who is sitting in her room and we make it the main focus of the video that she is going to get over bad times. We had the idea of getting the girl to take down her posters, and put all her photographs into a box, which she will later bring down to a bonfire and burn, to amplify the lyrics "it's just a spark". I want to get across the idea of a real change, really starting over and making sure that you will be okay when associated with the right people.
