"A film is - or should be - more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what's behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later." Stanley Kubrick

AS Media Reflection

Welcome to my new Media blog for A2.

Over the past year, I have learnt so much about both technology (Apple technology; Macs, Photoshop, Camera technology; lighting, camera effects, mise-en-scene) and the media (music industry; major/independent record companies and the impacts of various factors whether they be beneficial or not). I really enjoyed both sides, particularly learning about television dramas. I will probably never look at a film/tv show in the same way again, but I love that I can go on and on about camera angles and representation and actually seem knowledgeable in this subject!

I had an idea in my mind about my magazine from the beginning, that it would look semi-professional. I have bought magazines such as Kerrang!, NME and Q for over three years, and this somehow helped me in deciding which way I wanted to design my magazine. With my genre of alternative rock, it was difficult to get the band-shot I wanted as it required a one-colour background, which was impossible to find a location for shooting. So instead, I looked at magazines such as NME who do mid-shots of single band members, which was easier and also made it look more professional, which was what I wanted.
I liked my magazine in the end and it looked like something that I would buy if I saw it in store, so I was proud of it for that reason. However, if there was anything I could improve, it would be to add a puff or buzz word in a different colour because it was all pretty similar throughout.
